Easy Christmas Craft Ideas

This paper Christmas crafts idea is actually a classic craft for kids. Our family decided that paper snowflakes would look fantastic on windows. And they do. What's more, now we live in
a climate that gets very little, if any, snowfall. So, these darling little snowflakes make the holiday seem more like Christmas to us.

To make paper snowflakes, all you need are paper and scissors. That's it. You can get really sophisticated and buy specialty papers. They look fantastic. We've used metallic papers and construction paper. Tissue paper snowflakes look really pretty when sunlight or candlelight shines through them. Any type of paper works well. Plain paper from your printer will result in a traditional snow white snowflake. Cuticle scissors are also very handy for intricate cuts if you really get into making paper snowflakes.

A great idea and a way to use up leftover Christmas wrapping paper scraps is to cut paper snowflakes from them. We've had beautiful Christmas paper snowflakes cut from gold and silver Christmas wrapping paper. In fact, they looked so nice that we stored them flat and used them again each Christmas. They always stir up Christmas memories when we unpack them each year.

To make paper snowflakes, you must start with a square sheet of paper. If your paper isn't square, simply fold your paper by taking one top corner and lightly folding it over diagonally until it aligns with the other edge. Cut off the rectangular excess that doesn't line up. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Folding Paper Snowflakes
After you have a square sheet of paper, fold it in half. Fold it in half again. You should now have a smaller square. Look carefully at the corners. Three of the corners will have some open edges, but one corner will be all folds.

Hold the triangle so that the corner with all of the folds is on the bottom. Next, fold the right corner of the triangle toward the left side. Fold it with a sharp crease. Now you should have a smaller, skinny triangle.

  • Making paper snowflakes is a great Christmas crafts idea.
  • Learning how to make paper snowflakes is easy enough for young kids.
  • Paper snowflakes can be used in many ways.

Entertaining! I haven't done this in ages - great ice breaker at parties, by the way. Good for couples entertainment, too. Be well, M
