Andre Agassi is one of the few men that have won all four major titles. You have to possess a wide range of skills to be able to accomplish such a feat. You can translate the skills that he used to your recreation matches with just a few tips.

Hone Your Talent

Agassi had some of the most amazing hand eye coordination in the history of the sport. How else can you hit half volleys from the baseball and return them for winners? Agassi knew this and practiced to be able to hit shots like that.

You can do the same. Is there a natural ability that you have? Even if it's a solid down the line forehand, use that shot to your advantage. Agassi built his game around his awesome baseline strokes. Find out what you do well, practice it, and then use it to win matches.

Get In Shape

Agassi was always an awesome talent, but he wasn't always in such great shape. After his ranking fell, Agassi brought on Gil Reyes to help him keep in shape. Anything that you do well on the tennis court will be heightened by you getting in better physical condition. It helps you reflexes, your focus, and it's a weapon in its own right. Agassi would run the hills of Nevada in preparation for tournaments. When he played in extreme conditions, he had the advantage because he was used to the heat and wind…and could run for hours. It's very disheartening to see your opponent light on their feet after a three hour match and you're barely able to hold up a racket.

Play the Percentages

Agassi could hit amazing shots from off the ground. However, he didn't base his game off of those fantastic shots. Agassi tended to hit crosscourt. Why? Because the ball would travel over the lower part of the net, and since the court is wider in that direction, it's less apt to go out. That makes a difference in big points. Don't try to go for the shot that will win the shot of the week award. As great as they are to watch, they only get you one point. Hit your shots with some topspin to pull them back into the court. Also, aim for a foot or so inside the line to give yourself margin for error.

Give Them Your Best Shot
