Shamanism is an ancient form of spiritual healing. Using a comprehensive approach to healing, incorporating mind, body and spirit, in connection with environment, earth and universe, shamanic healers are becoming increasingly more popular in the United States. As an alternative healing option, many individuals who suffer from joint disorders find some sense of healing with the shamanism techniques. Joint disorders such as temporomandibular disorders, TMD, are chronic and debilitating. While the complication is not progressive, the pain associated with TMD can lead to reduced quality of life as pain complications flare and inhibit facial movement, jaw movement and often lead to dizziness, ear pain and chronic headaches. With nearly one-third of all adults affected at some point in their lives, with most being women, there is a strong connection between environment, stress and the development of TMD.
If you suffer from TMD, and find that your symptoms are often a complicated by the stressors in your life, you may find the use of shamanism to be quite effective as an alternative healing option. Using an interactive approach to healing, the shamanic healer will engage you in activities that encourage your power and your control over pain and health complications. Incorporating mind, spirituality, diet, exercise and lifestyle change, many TMD sufferers are finding relief in shamanic healing.
Believing there is a "dispirit" to those who suffer from chronic pain and illness, the goal of the shamanic healer is to revive the spirit within you. One area of prime focus with shamanic healing will involve the methods in which to de-stress your life. Because a highly stressful and demanding life and schedule can lead to failed treatment, your shamanic healer will want to take the necessary steps to encourage a change to that lifestyle, if possible.
