Jammie Wagon Wheels are a delicious marshmallow and jam biscuit smothered in chocolate and shaped like a wagon wheel, hence the origin of the name. They are a popular sweet treat in the UK and have filled many children's lunchboxes over the years.
Taste
Jammie Wagon Wheels have a light crunch to them as you first bite into the chocolate and on into the marshmallow filling. There is just a small amount of jam in the centre of the Wagon Wheel, sandwiched in between the marshmallow, biscuit and chocolate. The jam does not ooze out after you have taken your first bite, which means less mess.
Product Information
The good news about Jammie Wagon Wheels is that they are low in salt, contain no traces of artificial colours, are free from hydrogenated fats and contain no GM (Genetically Modified) ingredients. However, Jammie Wagon Wheels are not suitable for vegetarians, as each biscuit contains the animal product gelatine. This is not clearly stated on the packaging. You must look through the ingredients list to make this discovery.
Allergies
There is a warning on the packaging that alerts potential customers to the fact that this product contains wheat, gluten, milk, eggs and soya products. So if you or someone you know is allergic to any of these ingredients, it is important to refrain from eating this product.
Nutrition
Jammie Wagon Wheels contain 161 kcal in every biscuit, as well as 3g of saturated fat, 16.4g sugars and a trace of sodium. As we can see from the nutrition facts, this product is high in fat for such a small snack and also in sugar. It would not be a good snack for diabetics, but there is just a trace of sodium, which would be suitable for people with high blood pressure.
Ingredients
Jammie Wagon Wheels contain wheat flour, milk chocolate (24%), cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, raspberry flavour plum jam, gelatine and many other ingredients.
Storage
Jammie Wagon Wheels should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight in order to help preserve the quality of the product.
