Do you believe in ghosts? The state of Texas is just riddled with complaints of spirits, specters and apparitions. Here are the stories of five areas in the state that claim to be haunted by the restless spirits of the dead.Cameron County, Brownsville, Texas
At the University of Texas, students and faculty members have claimed to see the apparitions of two different women, a few Civil War soldiers and a small child. Others have said they witnessed books unexplainably falling off of shelves, chairs moving in the library when no one was near them, doors opening and closing on their own and plugs coming out of receptacles. Also, electrical gadgets are claimed to go haywire but will later work normally.
Howard County, Big Spring, Texas
At the former Flight Line Prison, many have claimed to hear loud music coming from the empty mess hall, as well as, pots and pans being rattled and other objects being moved.. The apparition of an elderly woman was reportedly seen by numerous witnesses before she quickly disappeared.
McCulloch County, Brady, Texas
At the McCulloch County Courthouse, many staff members have said that they have seen the vault closing on its own. Heavy ledger books that are stored inside of the vault have been taken off of shelves and opened up when no one was inside. The elevator in this building has been heard moving when no one was riding on it. Also reported here are cold spots, muted voices and phantom footsteps.
Tarrant County, Arlington, Texas
At the Cinemark Tinsel Town 9 Theatre, many have claimed to see chair seats move on their own. Some patrons have reported a man suddenly appearing in the seat next to them then, without a word, he gets up and begins to walk away before completely dissipating before their eyes. Some of the employees to the establishment have claimed that they heard unexplained banging noises or they have seen the door to the projection room opening or closing on its own.
