Make Christmas Crafts Using Old and New Christmas Cards

Sending Christmas cards to your loved ones is a time honored tradition. But just what do you do with all of those cards that you get year after year? Here are five fun holiday crafting ideas that use holiday and Christmas greeting cards.

New Christmas or Holiday Cards

It's easy to take those old Christmas cards and turn them into new ones. Using scissors, cut the cards into two pieces, separating the front from the back. Cut a heavy weight construction paper, or parchment paper, so that it is the same size as the top of the card. Line the two pieces up, and using a hole punch, punch two to three holes down the side of the card. Using colored yarn or ribbon, tie the two pieces together. You can easily write your own holiday message in the new card, or simply have the family sign it.

Decorate Gift Boxes

Another holiday craft using Christmas or Holiday greeting cards is to decorate your gift boxes. This is a unique way to plain boxes rather than using wrapping paper. Again you will cut the front piece of the card from the back piece. Using all purpose glue, glue the holiday cards to your box. You can cut the cards in any desired shape, or even use scissors with decorative edges to add an even more unique touch to your package.

Make Gift Tags for Your Presents

Making gift tags for your Christmas presents is a great way to add a personal touch to your package, and re-use those Christmas cards. You can either use the entire top piece of the card, or cut the card into desired shapers around any pictures or phrases that may be on the card. You can either tape the gift tag to your present, or you can punch a hole into the card and secure it to the package with a piece of ribbon.
