As parents, I feel we have the responsibility to inform our kids on all aspects and ways of life. Kids being informed about the dangers and dislikes of society will better deal with the situations when or if they arise. Lets face it, we living in bad times, in a sick society that doesn't protect our kids like they protect the perverts that commit such acts when and if they are imprisoned.

Having 2 girls I know the kind of women I want my daughters to be. I expect them to be young girls and as adults young ladies. I want them to love their femininity as girls do. Like wear make-up and dress pretty. I don't want them to be overwhelmed with what society throws at them. I know all the Disney Princess movies turn out in marriage, and I don't feel that's a bad thing but I also want them to know that if it doesn't happen like they see it on a movie doesn't mean they aren't worthy of a perfect life. I want my daughters to know that love and family are the most important feelings to deal with and understand in life.

Growing up with just my mother as a guardian, father nowhere to be found, I turned out just fine. I want to be there for everything in my kids lives because even though I made it without my father I still wished I had that male role model in my life. Kids need both a male and a female roll model. My mother who is so strong and independent, a lady in all ways is the role model I want for my daughters. Her values I will instill in them so they can learn to be confident, but also know that beauty alone is not the key to get you through life, but that it is the key to self awareness and respect.

Did You Know?
Children only know the love and hate that we show them.

Great read. I tried really hard with our daughters, and since we are a split family, my step-daughters have been sadly influenced by there mother (who is evil in so many ways) and my daughter who is some ways was influenced by her father. They had such a tuff time growing up in two households. It was tuff, and they are getting better, but it has been a long time coming. We have a son that we share and the difference between the up bringing it a tremendous one. Keep up the good work

You make some excellent points.

Good article. Little ears are easily influenced. My 3 year old said when he grows up he can smoke cigarettes like grandma. That was the example she set for him.

I agree about boys being taught to be masculine but nurturing. They need to find that balance, because it's not good to be only one or the other, as we see so often in the news. I think that's the kind of guy any father would want his daughter to marry. (I know mine feels that way!)

Very nice points. If only more parents would BE parents.

I agree with most of what you say. I agree that every child needs both male and female presence. I also agree that the community has a role in bringing up the children. I also feel that television has negative as well as positive attitudes. However, it is the parent who ultimately governs the child and the child learns from the parent.

Some great point here! On a side note, I noticed that your article repeats at the end. What program are you using? I had that with my word program a couple of times. Also, I had a big problem with it messing up my links and completely rearranging my article. I think it may be occurring from the c&p to submit. I found that I have to re-edit my submission and delete all the extra. After that I double check it when it is in the preview stage. Several times I have had to edit again from there.
