So you decided to host the holiday party this year? Let the party begin ... but where do YOU begin? It is much different being the host or hostess instead of a guest. A guest usually has to just show up and enjoy themselves with the exception of an occasional dish to pass. To be a good host or hostess, you will want to consider many things for your party. Some of these things include the guest list, food, entertainment and/or goodie bags.

To be able to plan a good party, let's start with the guest list. Holiday parties are thrown by the hundreds every holiday season. The holiday party may be more defined by the types of people who will be attending. If this is a party for co-workers, it maybe best to invite everyone to avoid hurt feeling of start an office issue. If this is a party for family, you will need to consider in the family dynamics. Things like inviting just your immediate family, parents, siblings or the extended family, grandparents, aunts and uncles with all the cousins. If you are married, and brave enough, you may decide to invite both sets of families. This is a decision only you can make, sorry. If this is a party for friends, it is helpful if some of the friends know each other. This makes party conversations a little easier. The number of guests may depend on the location of your party or those being invited or the budget you have to work with. One key factor to having a good party is a good number of attendees. To ensure this, make sure the invitations include the party details such as the date, time, location and the way to RSVP. Another way is to send the invitations 2-4 weeks in advance. The holiday season gets busy and then it is over.
