According to a recent online survey involving 1,107 children between the ages of two and seventeen, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton top Santa's naughty list. The survey was conducted by E-Poll Market Research, and reported by Reuters.

Britney Spear's troubles, including her penchant for going panty-less, her ongoing custody battle with Kevin Federline, and her stay in rehab--have earned her the title of "naughtiest."

Paris Hilton, with her three-week stay in the big house, brings her in at a very close second.

According to the children who responded, Britney and Paris are so evil--that they have beaten out the very tough competition. Swiper the Fox (from Dora theExplorer), the Grinch, and even Darth Vader pail in comparison. These are the results among the children, ages two to twelve.

Among the teen crowd, the Britster and Paris have even topped former cohort Lindsay Lohan. In spite of her arrest for drunken driving and possession of cocaine, it appears that Lohan can't quite keep up with such extreme naughtiness.

Though some stars are naughty, surely others are nice. Among the younger children--Miley Cyrus, who plays the Disney character Hannah Montana--won the award for "nicest." As for the teen group, the coveted "nice" award was bestowed upon Angelina Jolie.

So, what exactly qualifies as "nice?" According to the children surveyed, "cleaning up and doing chores" made the list.

And, what would Santa consider "naughty?" "not listening to parents," and "being mean" were among the qualifications.

A Mother's Reaction (and you may or may not like it):

I am the mother of five children, ages 1 1/2; 3 1/2; 5 1/2; 9; and 11. If you are not a parent, and possibly even if you are--you may think that any parent would be delighted to see that such young children were already distinguishing between good and bad behavior. I suppose that could be good news. It also brings this question to mind: Are these same children able to distinguish between their parent's good and bad behavior?

I heard about this too. I think that we need to give children credit where credit is due. It is not appropriate to behave in the way that these celebrities have behaved over this past year and they have not set a good example for others to follow. Sophie

Hi Nikki! Thanks for your comment. I also just noticed the word "at" in my title! I think I was going to change the title to "at top of." oops. I e-mailed admin. Hope they take care of it. I guess I don't really fault the people who took the poll--that's what they do. It's just beyond me that so many small children were able to respond. Two years old? I can't even imagine it!

Nice job on the article. This poll was tasteless and just another way for someone to line their pockets.

Yes, certainly children learn that it's the "norm." That's really what struck me about this poll. How were these children able to respond? I suppose knowledge of all-things Hollywood is at least part of their norm. If I asked any of my children, "So, what do you think of Paris Hilton?" I would get a blank stare. To be completely honest with myself--my oldest daughter might say something like, "I think she has blonde hair."..thanks for commenting

On a review linked from http://digg.com/movies/Why_the_MPAA_s_Raters_Have_to_Be_Anonymous, I mentioned why sex and violence were partly withheld by the MPAA raters' league: Hypnosis! If any human mind is exposed to Anything over-and-over, it "learns" that the thing is 'okay to do.'
