House is a melodramatic serial series, this is because House is similar to a soap opera as both are on-going and you can miss an episode, but there is information that will come up later.

The theme of this series for this season is that House is trying to establish a new team since his team from the prior season; [Foreman, Cameron and Chase] were fired and/or quit. Although the initial episode began with House not wanting to employee a new team, he reluctantly accepted that he needed a team.

House found that he would take a new approach to finding his team which has been the basis of this season's concept. House has taken interviewing to a new level with having a parody of Survivor and eliminating doctors just as survivor eliminates its players with the grand prize being a monetary award compared to working with House. Yet, some interviewees find that it would be a great way to establish their careers as doctors and save lives while others do not care much for the satisfaction of saving life, but what it will say about themselves if they are hired to work with House.

The structure despite some character changes has remained the same in this season. The intro begins with what will become a patient having a typical day and the character then has a health problem that is unknown of what has caused this problem to take place. There is then a commercial break as soon as it occurs. The patient goes into the hospital and House along with his prospective team must figure out what ails the patient. Then after several trials of what could cause the illness and not working, House will have a moment of when he realizes why nothing has worked. House explains to his team why it is and after disagreements the patient is most likely cured although there have been past episodes where a patient has died because of mistake.

As this season has a twist with various doctors wanting to become part of House's team he finds who he will eliminate through there character, past history as well as there performance with diagnosing.
