Many people are under the impression that a degree obtained via distance learning is not as valid in the workplace as a degree obtained through on campus learning. This point of view can be contributed to the countless online "diploma mills" that gives you a "degree" for a fee. However, there are many legitimate online degree programs that require you to do coursework in exchange for your degree. These programs are accredited, and they have options such as financial aid available to qualified students. The credits you receive in an accredited distance learning program are transferable, and you can transfer credits from a traditional university to go toward your distance learning degree.
The distance learning classroom takes some getting used to. You communicate with your classmates by posting messages on forums. There are discussion questions and checkpoints so that the instructor can grade you and make sure that you comprehend the material. You can post your assignments at anytime on the day that they are due, so completing your assignments is easy to work into your schedule. It is a very convenient set up for someone who thinks that they are too busy for college to earn their degree.
