Would a Certain Holidays or Occasions Allow the Child to Drink?
While there are many parents who do not believe in underage drinking, there are some who find it to be acceptable during the time of a holiday. Some parents, for example, may only allow their child to have a drink of wine on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve. Others may say that it is okay for the child to have a drink during their graduation party, as long as he or she will not be drinking and driving. Although allowing your child to drink all the time shouldn't be acceptable, certain occasions may allow for a child to have a drink.
Could Allowing the Child to Drink Prevent Future Mistakes?
All too often, families love one of their loved ones due to drinking and driving or alcohol poisoning. In some cases, allowing your child to drink early on can help prevent mistakes that may be made in the future. For example, when children are exposed to beer at a younger age, they are often found more likely to be repulsed by the taste of beer once they have reached adulthood. It is also important to keep in mind that many teenagers or even young college students who have not yet reached 21 find drinking to be a thrill. If they are allowed a drink every once and awhile by their parents, it is likely that the thrill of drinking may not exist for them.
