Ethiopian Mother of Angelina Jolie's Adopted Daughter Wishes Them a Successful Life

There have been press reports in America, Australia and Europe that Angelina Jolie, the sexy movie star now being featured as the mother of the monster Grendel in the movie Beowulf, is facing a crisis over the custody of her adopted daughter Zahara, whom the United Nations ambassador adopted in Africa and is now two-years old. The reports held that the baby's natural mother and the child's grandmother had taken steps to get the child returned by the Hollywood star.

Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, picked the child up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2005. She claimed then and subsequently that the little girl she renamed Zahara ("flower" in Swahili) was an orphan created by the AIDS crisis in Africa. The little girl was in hospital, being treated for life-threatening dehydration and malnutrition when she caught Jolie's attention.

Angelina Jolie's view of the events surrounding Zahara's adoption is supported by her friends, who have told the press that the child was an orphan and had no family, insinuating that the claims of Metwabe Dawit Lebiso to be the child's mother are mistaken or a fraud.

Rupert Murdoch's Melbourne-based Herald Sun reported on November 16th that Dawit Lebiso wanted her daughter back. The paper quoted her as saying, "I want my daughter to come home to see where she is from. Her grandmother and I both tried very hard to raise her, and I want her to come home to regain her identity.

The Herald Sun quoted one friend of Jolie as saying, "Angelina believes that Zahara is an orphan and the woman who claims to be her mother is mistaken. Government papers said Zahara was an AIDS orphan and Angie had no reason to believe otherwise. "
