One of the best parts of the Christmas season is picking out a family Christmas tree. Once you've done so, you have to decide exactly where to place your beautiful tree in your home. There are several things to contemplate when deciding where to put your Christmas tree. Here is how to pick the perfect spot for your Christmas tree.

Decide if you want your Christmas tree to be visible to those outside of your home.

For a lot of people, this is one of the most important parts of having a Christmas tree. My family has always placed our Christmas tree in front of a prominent window in our living room. This way, anybody who passes by our house at night can't help but look towards our house and see the lit up Christmas tree.

Chances are that, during the Christmas season, you'll see the same thing as you pass by houses in your community. If having strangers see your Christmas tree isn't all that important to you, however, you'll have a lot more options when it comes to finding the perfect spot for your Christmas tree.

Put your Christmas tree in a room that you'll be in often.

Emily's (the future Mrs. Zac for those of you who have never read my stuff before) family has put their Christmas tree in a family room that isn't used that often. I know that this is done mainly because their living room does not have that much space for a Christmas tree.

Still, I like the fact that our Christmas tree is standing right next to me as I type this piece. What's the point of going out, finding a beautiful Christmas tree and then decorating it, only to not be able to enjoy it everyday? Sure, Em and I may be the cliché couple from about fifty years ago, but we like sitting on our couch looking at our Christmas tree anytime we glance to our left.

Place your Christmas tree in a spot that gives you enough room to maneuver around the tree.

Excellent advice. I placed my tree where it would fit and didn't care if people outside couldn't see it.

What a terrific article! We used to put our tree in the parlour where passersby could see it ~ but really hated the coldness and congestion of the room Christmas morning. For the last couple of years, it's now in the living room where we can sit in front of the fire and enjoy the tree :).
