I'm not sure when I fell in love with frogs. Maybe there was one on a fountain in a yard or on a flower pot that I started to take note of. Green is my birth stone, also always been a favorite color of mine so I was naturally drawn to frogs, however it wasn't til later in life that I really noticed
them or thought them to be cute enough to buy something that had one on it.
I know people can become obsessed with an animals. Maybe it's a cow or a rooster, but you can't go into a single room where you don't see one somewhere. I would never allow myself to be carried away to the point of having a frog in every room, but you'll find a handful in my house even though I'm not a big fan of collecting. Maybe what makes them lovable is there out of proportion bodies that say I can't take myself seriously and almost scream make fun of me. You tend to find them in humourous positions or exaggerated somehow.
I read once where the word frog stands for (f)ully (r)ely (o)n (g) which I thought was powerful and gave me another reason to be a fan. They are one of the few if not the only amphibians that we would welcome in our homes and gardens without a second thought. They tend to fill the summer air with all types of sounds that can easily take you strolling down memory lane and let you know quickly if they are hopping in your neck of the woods. So what happens when don't hear their loud croaks any longer or notice one squashed flat in your driveway? It's called urbanization.
