After consulting with my professional stylists at Salon 33 (Paulding/Douglas County, Georgia) it occurred to me that when we go to Christmas parties, or out on the town we want to look our best. Sometimes I'm guilty of getting into a rut of wearing the same two hairstyles: one for casual day and one for dress up day.

It's time to get up to date. Salon 33 offered a few tips to get you through the holidays in style. It's not as complicated as you may think to get a "Wow!"

The most requested hairstyle is a short, choppy stack, much like Victoria Beckham's. According to Anita Enterkin, my stylist at Salon 33, everyone wants something simple, but stylish. Before you think that is bland and passé consider how to make a stacked style pop. Low lights, additional browns, red, brown, and auburn give your hairstyle distinction.

Have a stylist add subtle fall colors that match your natural color (or bottled) color expertly. Styling your own hair is a chore, but to a professional stylist it is an art. They know how much color your hair needs to look its best. They also know how many colors you need to add just the right accents. For example, I had highlights added. I was ever so hesitant to add any other colors. Trusting Anita's judgment, however, she added just a few strands of a deep reddish color. (I'd call it purple, but you might get the wrong idea.) The color really isn't noticeable at first glance. However, the presence of a few strands of color add dimension and accentuate the highlights. It amazed me that a little color and a few snips, in the right places, could create a much classier look.

Please, do not go buy a bottle of Clairol and color your whole head red, because you'll be sending your husband right back to the store for brown to cover it up, and he'll be cursing me the whole way. Spend a little time and money on yourself. The better you feel about how you look, the better time you will have when you're out celebrating the holidays. If you don't feel like you can do it for yourself put a gift certificate to Salon 33, or your local hair salon on your Christmas list.

Happy Birthday to me, someone gave me a cut, foil, etc gift certificate for my birthday...later this week.....Wow! what a gift. I got a smaller one that will cover an eyebrow waxing. (Which will probably get Anita kicked, but I'd rather they do it than pluckity, pluck, pluck.)

Fun article. Posh's hair looks great, but I'll leave that to her.

I'm not sure I like the hairstyles that most of the Spice Girls have. I am not keen on Victoria's hairstyle at all. She looked so much prettier a decade ago when she wasn't so thin. Sophie

Nice article! While I'm no hair expert, I know people who can look at a photo and say "That is a classic 80s style" so clearly some hairstyles really went with certain years, like so long ago when Farrah Fawcett's hairstyle was the rage or when Friends was popular and Jennifer Aniston's cut was popular.
