Everyone wants a stunning Christmas tree to show off when their relatives and friends are visiting for the holidays. Unfortunately, most traditional Christmas tree decorations look quite generic; so many Christmas trees look the same. If you would like to try something new this year, you could try making edible Christmas ornaments for your tree. Decorating your tree this way has several advantages. First of all, these Christmas ornaments will not shatter into a thousand little pieces if dropped. This makes them especially child and pet friendly. Also, you do not have to worry about your children or pets being hurt if they eat them. Another good reason to use edible ornaments this year is the fact that candy and cookie making is very fun, so you can get your entire family involved in the process of making the ornaments. Finally, a tree with edible ornaments is a unique idea, so your family and friends will be amazed with the originality of your homemade ornaments, and the children in the family will be delighted with the fact that they can eat the ornaments right off of your tree.

So, now you ask, how do we make homemade ornaments? It's really quite simple, and it requires a few candy and confectioners recipes as well as some supplies from your local cake decorating store, party supply store, or craft store. Feel free to put your own spin on all of these ideas, as this will make your Christmas tree truly one of a kind.

The first ornaments are hard candy ornaments. There are two different ways that you can do this. First, you can make the hard candy yourself. The recipe for hard candy is as follows:

3 3/4 Cups of White Sugar
1 1/4 Cups of light corn syrup
1 Cup of Water
