Today I was given a autobiographical book to read and review, one authored by a fellow AC content producer Linda Corby. The ISBN # is 1-4116-5162-6 and the book can be found, amongst other places, on Amazon for around $18.00 US. I read the this autobiography in around three hours. The following is my honest review of her efforts.

This story is not for the faint of heart, it is a story of harsh reality, it is a story of a life full of hardship and triumphs. The first impression of this autobiography was one of a Cinderella tale but with more of a real life feel and less of the fairytale we all know and love. It details the authors life starting with being adopted into a life of prosperity, wealth and privilege few of us can imagine but with a catch. The catch begins with an evil adopted Mother that abused her emotionally and physically.

It moves on to tell of a life of struggle and adversity many of us could not cope with. It details her good hearted attempts to uncover a scam perpetrated by a one time friend and the horrors her, her pets and her family had to endure in the process. The story spins a yarn of love, deceit, greed, betrayal, loss, wealth and the everyday struggles of life. It also details what life is like in a small island community, the group think that prevails, and the prejudice that exists between the haves and have nots.

The story reveals details about the loss of two of her children, which any parent should never have to endure. It details the harsh cold shoulder she received from her immediate family in her time of extreme emotional need, due to the loss of her Daughter, because they thought they might have to give money for her medical bills.

This is a story crying to be told and anyone can gain knowledge from her life experiences. Knowledge of standing up for yourself, loving others, issues that deal with greed, and it can serve as a warning to those who truly need to know what is important in life. Things like giving love, giving help, showing kindness, and money isn't everything.

I have Linda's autobiography,it really is one everyone should read. I have to say being British myself that there is also a considerable amount of humour in it. A lot of people could benifit from reading about Linda's experiences!

Knowing your story as I do, my admiration for your strength and that of your husband is strong. And Alyce, even if it is self-published, no biggie. Apparently there have been some rather renown authors who self-published an early work. I wrote a 400 page historical novel and threw it in the trash after about the fifth edit. Got tired of looking at it, and self-publishing was just beginning to really grow. Now with all the online media, it has become a viable marketing tool. BTW Alyce, I am not raggin' on ya. I think your statement was a reasonable one based on the critique. I just wanted ya to know I am not just hassling you. I was just addressing the issue you raised. As you have said to me, Peace!

Thanks Jim, I even surprise myself at how far I can stretch sometimes, but one has to be strong and be there for the ones you love no matter what it takes, everyone has there breaking points, the trick is to find a way to tie a strong knot in the elastic, pick yourself up dust yourself down and start all over again. Life is a game of ups and downs, one has to make the most of whatever good luck comes your way, share happiness and pain, and whenever possible help others to do the same. Loyalty,Devotion and love are what really matter in this life, and if you have these things you can survive near enough anything life throws at you!!!

Yes it is Alyce Rocco, the main reason being that there is a huge celebrity exposa in it,I have a lot of things happen in my life and I have named names, which I can because I have the proof to everything I have written in its pages. I actually never even bothered to send it to a publisher because it was in with one when a famous author decided to use part of it to produce a best seller, like one that won the Edgar Allan Poe award! That Publisher sent it back because of what this author had done.

I to am reading her book, and it is everything Deez says it is. Linda Corby is a person of the most elastic of natures. As Deez said, It's not for the faint of heart. When I screw up the courage, I will finish her tale. Kudos Deez and of course, to you too Linda.

Quite interesting. I imagine it was a self-published book, due to your critique. Book has a great title.

Looks like I could have used a proof reader. LOL. Way to many typo's now that I have reread this piece. No one is perfect.

I thought the book was very good. It is such an emotional report that I'm sure it was difficult for her to write and while their may be a few errors, some of it is actually the British accent that comes through loudly. Keep up the good work, it is another example of how one with money can literally do whatever they want to a little guy and not suffer any consequences. Very sad.

Thanks for the review Deez, I actually appreciate the honesty. I couldn't use a ghost writer even if I had wanted to due to lack of funds at the time, which having read the book I am sure you will understand. Yep I can prove every word within its pages, lol, no one in their right mind would write what I did without the proof and I haven't totally lost it as yet. Gotta say 'Yes my hubby Brian is a wonderful man whom I love with all my heart!:-)
