A Summary of My Research on Beauty Pageant Tips
In an effort to prepare my child for her second beauty pageant, I spent some time online looking for tips from former and current beauty pageant queens. Lots of time. Here are the beauty pageant tips that I found most useful.Beauty Pageant Tip No. 1
Hire a beauty pageant coach: I noticed that most of the girls who have won beauty pageants have coaches. These coaches charge approximately $100.00 an hour to guide beauty pageant hopefuls to the crown. Personally, I cannot fathom giving anyone $100.00 to coach a ten year old in a beauty pageant. I do feel they probably have good information though as most of them are repeat winners.
Beauty Pageant Tip No. 2
Natural makeup and hair: Most past beauty pageant winners mention that having a natural look that is age appropriate is the best way to go. A child should look like a child. A teen should look like a teen. An adult should look like an adult. If the beauty pageant contestants are under age 13, there should be no visible makeup at all. Hair should be in a natural style and out of the face.
Beauty Pageant Tip No. 3
Classic interview suit: Once again, the former and present beauty pageant queens suggest that the interview suit be a classic style, a color that works well for the contestant, and not be too flashy. You do not want your clothing to distract from what you are trying to say.

Thank you very much!! It is our school pageant, so I'm guessin its a natural pageant. It said sunday best or pageant dress, but it did say, most the girls will be wearing pageant dresses. I'm new to this, so I just didn't want to have her show up looking completely different than everyone else! lol I figured the school pageant would be the best to start with; just to see if she likes it!! :) Thanks so much!!
Mom, your questions depend on the pageant. Look through the pageant literature and it will tell you the preferred dress and makeup. It it is a natural pageant, there is no makeup if it is a glitz pageant, which I wouldn't do for a first pageant... there will be makeup. Dresses for little girls are typically short with lots of ruffles.

My 5 year old daughter is going to be in her very first pageant, and I am looking for some tips and suggestions for appropriate dress wear and hair and make-up suggestions?? I wasn't sure if girls that age should wear some make-up or none at all?? And, if they should have short or long dresses?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :)

In my experience of interviewing many of the state titleholders for my website on pageantry, I have found that these girls do have pageant coaches and specific areas of competition that they want to win. When the focus on winning one area they cannot help but to win in other areas. Sounds simple but most success principles are.

--(contd) associated with it. Just be prepared to pay a lot for a whirlwind time of stress, excitement and the slight possibility of winning. AND if she does win- you go to nationals and HER trip, hotel, entrance fees are paid in full but for you to go with her which is MANDATORY, you pay your own way. Now, all pageants have different rules but my advice is to try and find out as much as you can about it first before you dive right in, and be prepared to go door to door to ask for money unless you have it all yourself. It's exciting to be a first time pageant But try to make sure the one you are in is legitimate. - That they aren't just out to make money. Pageants are so expensive. The entry fee (for "training") is around $500.00 and they want you to get sponsors for paying that, also there is a very short amount of time before you need to come up with the money. Pageant dresses are also around $100.00 for a lower priced one. You buy that yourself. Interview outfit and casual wear outfit also cost extra if you need to purchase them. The parents are discouraged from "hanging around" and the kids have to dress themselves and fix their own hair most times. It also costs extra for the "side" competitions such as Miss Photogenic. Then, to even go to the pageant and watch your child compete, you have to pay to get in. It is usually around $20.00 a ticket to get in.
