Our proposed grant is so that the uninhabited area Palmer Cove baseball field will be used as an outdoor facility area. The cement pavement out near the batting cages is where we plan on to accomplish this.

The purpose of this project is to open this area for the use of the Salem State students, whether they are athletes or just people that want to work outside to get use to the weather conditions. Additionally, the area will be opening up to the Salem public.

Because this area is not well developed we think that this would benefit the kids in the neighborhood to get off the streets and do something constructive with their time.

Now the grantmakers are going to want certain needs/desires, which include:

· Something that will benefit a lot of people. This cause will benefit the public because not only is it going to be used for conditioning and fitness for Salem State, we plan on opening it up to the public so that everyone can use it.

· Low cost to build, this is quite easy as we plan on using left over pipes from construction that is going on around the town.

· SFL faculty will teach students through half-credit classes on how to use the equipment and make sure that everyone is safe.

· Location: Palmer Cove, which is off of Leavitt Street in Salem.

Executive Summary

- The initial problem is that many youths in this area spend their time with negative hobbies, such as drinking and smoking.

- Our group has found that Palmer Cove is an area that could use social improvement through exercise and sport.

- Our plan is to acquire money through this grant so that we might be able to use it towards improving the area and offering more positive ways for the people of this area to spend their time.

- Our total requested fund are two thousand (2,000) dollars and will be necessary to cover building supplies, service fees, and incentive for volunteers (including food and drink).
