Mold is not something to take lightly and in some cases can even result in death. In many instances, those affected by mold spores in the air will develop sinus infections, but it can also lead to chronic respiratory problems. The most high risk groups include children, the elderly, and those with asthma and other respiratory conditions.

Air quality is probably low on the list of concerns for most homeowners and even companies for that matter. It is often the unseen hazards that escape our notice until it is too late. The quality of the air in a building can be affected by many different causes and it is important that you have the air quality tested on a regular basis.

Not only will this keep your family healthy, but a company may reap some benefits as well, by inhibiting the loss of productivity, and revenue due to employees calling in sick. Mold can be a large contributing factor in the quality of the air in your structure. Mold is cumulative and when it grows it releases spores.
These mold spores are then transmitted through the air and even throughout a building's ventilation system. Simply put, the affects of mold are not isolated to the immediate area of contamination. This mold in turn affects the health of all those that inhale the dangerous spores. Many people are unaware of the fact that mold is actually a very resilient organism and can even thrive in areas surrounding a steam leak.

It is important to recognize the symptoms of mold infestation and what causes it. Mold is a fungus which grows in damp, poorly ventilated dark places. Most often it can be found growing in and around leaking water pipes or plumbing fixtures. In many instances the mold can appear to be green with black spots, but it can appear as a white mossy looking growth as well.
