Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the most popular destinations in the Chicago area. Located on the north side of Chicago and nestled among trees and skyscrapers in the beautiful Lincoln Park neighborhood, Lincoln Park Zoo was founded in 1868, is open 365 days a year and is free admission.

From the Lincoln Park Zoo's website:

"We are dedicated to connecting people with nature by providing a free family oriented wildlife experience in the heart of Chicago and by advancing the highest quality animal care, education, science and conservation."

Millions of visitors flock to Lincoln Park Zoo every year, especially during the winter months to enjoy the Zoolights. Other zoos offer light displays, but few are as impressive as Lincoln Park Zoo's extremely unique light show. Bright lights are draped throughout the zoo in a truly beautiful and spectacular display. The event is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., November 23 to January 1, and is closed December 24 and December 25. As an extra treat - "the first 1,000 visitors each night receive cool holiday 3-D glasses for a unique view of the lights."For 2007, Zoolights will continue to provide the traditional sites that visitors expect, but there are also new additions to the experience.

What you will find at Lincoln Park's Zoo's annual Zoolights:

Millions of bright beautiful lights displayed throughout the zoo.

Santa's Safari, sponsored by Unicare, gives kids the chance to get their photo taken with Santa. But this is no ordinary St. Nick encounter. Life-like exotic animals like gorillas, crocodiles and flamingos are also a part of the experience, surrounding Santa for a unique photo opportunity.

Watch artist work with blocks of ice to create beautiful ice carvings of animals, city skylines and more. This is also an excellent opportunity for kids to watch and learn from the craftsman at work.

Remember snow globes as a kid? Lincoln Park Zoolights has giant snow globes of Frosty, Rudolph, The Grinch and Charlie Brown.
