The Meaning of Life

I have noticed that there are an awfully large number of expressions that use the word "life" in them. Why is that? Is it because we are a deep and thoughtful race, in touch with the pulse of the universe? Hmmmmm. Somehow, I kind of doubt that. One has only to look at MTV, reality television, politicians, interviews with trailer park tornado victims and Paris Hilton to see that, in the grand scheme of the universe, we pretty much keep to the shallow end of the intelligence and insight pool. That small detail, however, is not enough to prevent my writing yet another viewpoint on the subject.

If you look up life in the dictionary, it talks about birth, death and the space in between. Even that subject has been hotly debated (when does life begin? Conception? Birth? At 40?) with no consensus even remotely visible on the horizon. We don't even agree on what constitutes real death. Wow. And we were left in charge? Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it? What about The Meaning of Life? (See below under Monty Python.) They say 'Life is What You Make of It'. I have a problem with this and I would like to talk to 'them' about it. You mean all of this is my fault? No, really. This definitely does not fit in with my whole 'It's not my fault, I'm the victim here' mentality. Note to self; write 'them' a letter concerning self responsibility issue.
