Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel

I’ll tell you, the best thing about having young children is that many times, you get to see the world through their eyes, which as all adults and parents know in these hectic times, can be a refreshing break from reality if only for a short moment. Having said that, I have to admit that my nine-year-old daughter, Tia has gotten me hooked on many of the youth oriented television shows that she watches, particularly on The Disney Channel.

One of the new shows Tia has been watching, and I’ve caught scattered glimpses of myself, is the Original Disney production, Hannah Montana. The series is produced in part with Sony Pictures and made its debut on on the station on March 24, 2006. Miley Cyrus stars as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana, who lives a double life as a normal girl at school during the day and a famous pop star (Hannah Montana) at night.

However, no one knows about her secret except for her widowed father, who is also her manager (played incredibly, by Miley Cyrus' father Billy Ray Cyrus), her brother, her grandmother, her two best friends, and a revolving guest cast of costumers, security guards, and so forth. The show was co-created by the ingenious Michael Poryes, who also co-created another hit Disney Channel series, That's So Raven, starring Raven Symone. The series premiere scored record ratings for the Disney Channel: 5.4 million viewers, an unbelievable – and unexpected, response that was, “beyond our wildest expectations,” according to a quote from the presideint of Disney Channel Entertainment, Gary Marsh.

I thought the fact that since my daughter is an avid watcher of the show, her input would be informative to parents and their children as well, so here is what the future writer, tennis player, singer, who-knows-what, has to say about Hannah Montana.
“I think that Hannah Montana is a very funny and sometimes, touching show. I like Miley Cyrus and I think she does a great job acting. Sometimes, Hannah Montana teaches you things about friendship, health, love, and to just be yourself!

  • Sometimes, Hannah Montana teaches you things about friendship, health, love, and to just be yourself
  • Miley Stewart is a regular teenage girl leading a normal life with the problems of zits, boyfriends,
  • But under the alias Hannah Montana, she's a pop superstar singing sensation.
