Trying to get your grocery shopping done when you have IBD can be one of the most difficult tasks that you will ever have to deal with. Most who have Ibd will become exhausted and in some cases frustrated if they suddenly have a flare up when they are trying to get their grocery shopping done.

After taking the time to speak with several people who have Inflammatory bowl disease, I have come up with a list that will help you to get your shopping done with the least amount of discomfort or frustration.

The first thing that you will have to do is take the time to really plan out your shopping trip. Most people will make a shopping list o everything they need. Their swill help you to avoid wasting time and you will get your shopping done a lot faster.

When planning to get your grocery shopping done you will need to make sure you know exactly where the restrooms are in the store. If your grocery store does not have a useable bathroom or if it is just to disgusting for you to use than you should be aware of the local restaurants near the supermarket. Restaurant bathrooms are usually a lot cleaner.

You can always ask someone at one of the counters to hold your cart, so that you can go get something from the car. Or in some cases many have just quickly finished with their shopping so that they can go to the local restaurant to use the restroom. You can also try to bring along a friend so that they can watch your cart why you run to the restroom. Many have also found this to be very helpful.

In order to make sure that you don't get stuck in some very long line you should try to get your shopping done when the supermarket first opens. Or you can go late in the evening at least an hour before they close. This is usually the best time to go shopping since you are able to avoid the crowds. Last and certainly not least it is important to make sure that you do not forget your medication when you are doing your grocery shopping.

Thank you for informing others Renee about IBD, I have similar conditions. And annoying it can be. I would map out the store and know exactly what was in what aisle, and start from the one furthest from the bathroom and then moving along closest to the bathroom. And like you said don't shop alone. I have even asked the clerk to watch my cart and said I need to use the Ladies room ASAP. They are really good about it. These conditions make you not want to leave home sometimes. Hugs Mary
