It seems that no matter how old, people who can eat candy enjoy getting candy as a gift. Even the smallest candy gift is fun and enjoyable. The cuter the candy gift, the more some people enjoy it. It is easy to give a candy train as a simple Christmas gift to friends and coworkers.
The candies needed are as follows:
One roll of Life Savers or candies that come in a similar shaped roll.
Four wrapped peppermints.
One wrapped caramel (or other square candy).
One wrapped Hershey's kiss.
A glue gun or other strong adhesive is needed for this craft. A string is also optional for this craft as well.
Take the roll of Life Savers and make sure that the silver ends are sticking out both ends of the paper wrapper equally.
Pick up one peppermint and put a drop of hot melt glue in the center on one side. Place the first peppermint on one side so the edge of the peppermint is where the paper wrapper begins. Stick it down to the roll of Life Savers.
Take the next peppermint and put a drop of hot melt glue in the center on one side. Place this peppermint on the roll of Life Savers at the other end so the edge aligns with the edge of the paper wrapper. Press down so it sticks.
Once the glue is dry enough, repeat the process with the other two peppermints on the other side of the Life Savers roll. Let the glue dry.
The Life Savers roll should now be able to stand on the peppermints as if they were wheels.
Take the caramel candy and put a drop of hot melt glue on one side. Glue it to what is now the top of the train so the edge of the caramel lines up with the edge of the paper wrapper.
Now, take the Hershey's kiss and put a drop of hot melt glue on the bottom. Glue it to the top of the caramel. Let the glue dry.
One train has now been made.
There is the option of gluing a string a little ways in front of the caramel so that the train can hang as an ornament on a tree or other places.
A great thing is that now Hershey's kisses come in many different flavors and Life Savers has many different varieties and they are all wrapped in different colors, so the trains can all look slightly different from each other.
