eBay's online auctions can be a great place to sell your unwanted merchandise, but many people are hesitant to sell on eBay due to the high fees charged for selling an item. Fees add up quickly when you sell a fair amount of items, so you should do whatever you can to lower these fees and save a few bucks. Of course, there is now way to eliminate the fees entirely, but by knowing eBay's different fee charts, you can set your auctions up to be very cost efficient. The quickest way to save some money on your eBay listing fees is to set your start price low. If you have an item that you know will sell for a hundred dollars, then there is no reason to start it high. The higher the starting price is, the higher the starting eBay fee will be. Currently the cheapest fee is only twenty cents by starting the auction anywhere under a dollar. By starting the auction at one hundred dollars, you will attract less bidder interest and eBay will take a higher starting fee.
Another unnecessary expense that a lot of eBay sellers use is the extra auction features such as gallery and bold titles. Check out some of the completed auctions to see if items like you have sold have done better with additional features. Most of the time they will end pretty much at the same price, so you have to decide if the extra features are worth it. A bold title may look a little bit better to the buyer in your mind, but the buyer is looking for the cheapest price, not the best looking advertisement listing.
Another thing you can do to save some extra money on your eBay fees is to host your own pictures of your item. eBay only allows you to have one picture hosted for free, and then charges for each additional photo that you host with them. If all of your auctions have quite a few pictures, then the charges can add up very fast. To counter this unnecessary cost, you should use a free image hosting service to host all of your photos, and then you can just insert them into your auction using simple html code, which is usually provided to you free of cost by the image hosting web site. That way, you will never be charged for extra pictures and you won't have to worry about how many pictures you are taking.
