A lot of people are led to believe that broiling potatoes is bad for you. Every vegetarian is told that eating a dish of broiled potatoes is actually a pretty good thing to eat. This is because potatoes can offer you the proper amount of carbohydrates and fats that your body actually does need. We can not live a diet that does not have either of these. I am going to teach you how to make a dish called Broiled Potatoes with Lime. This dish is ideally served with other broiled or grilled foods, as the potatoes themselves can be cooked by either method. We are going to cook them the following way.Broiled Potatoes with Lime:
Ingredients:
-1 lb potatoes, unpeeled and scrubbed
-3 tbsp of butter, melted
-2 tbsp of chopped fresh thyme
-Paprika, for dusting
Lime Mayonnaise Ingredients:
-2/3 cup of mayonnaise
-2 tsp lime juice
-Finely grated zest of 1 lime
-1 garlic clove, crushed
-1 pinch of paprika
-Salt & pepper
Step One:
The first step is very important to the entire dish. This is where you are going to cut your potatoes. The potatoes must be cut into 1/2 inch thick slices. If you decide that it would be a good idea to cut the slices into thicker pieces, your dish will not come out right. The 1/2 inch restriction allows the potato to be fully cooked throughout, thus making it much more crisper.
Step Two:
You will then cook the potatoes in a pan of boiling water for about 5 to 7 minutes. The reason you are doing this is so that the potatoes will cook a little without losing their firmness. You will then need to remove the potatoes with a perforated spoon. If you do not have one of these spoons, make sure to purchase one before you start this dish. Use the spoon to drain the potatoes completely.
Step Three:
Line a broiler pan with some aluminum foil. You will then place each of your potato slices onto the foil individually. Take a brush and used the melted butter to brush the potatoes. The next step is where you will sprinkle the chopped thyme on top. Season to taste with the salt and pepper. You are now ready to cook the potatoes under a preheated broiler for about 10 minutes. Make sure to turn the potatoes over once to ensure that both sides are cooked evenly.
