A look back over this year's BCS rankings looks like some sort of randomly-generated computer malfunction. Top-ranked teams fell left and right to opponents they should have trounced. Teams moved up and down the list like it was a child's game of Chutes and Ladders instead of the national college football standings. So what does all this mean for the bowl games? Here's one humble take on the outcomes.

Allstate Championship Bowl

Thankfully, it appears that the BCS gets it right on this one, as the two most deserving teams are playing for the National Championship. This year's Buckeyes have an improved defense and it's a well-known axiom that defense wins championships. For their part, LSU comes in with two losses but both of those losses came in triple OT. They are certainly not your typical two-loss team and the Buckeyes will have their work cut out for them, despite coming away with the win.

Final prediction: OSU 27, LSU 21

Orange Bowl

I'll I can say is that Kansas somehow snuck in over Missouri and that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Kansas at 8th gets in over 6th ranked Missouri and I can't buy any justification for that, all arguments to the contrary aside. Va. Tech will walk away with the win on this one.

Final prediction: Virginia Tech 35, Kansas 14.

Fiesta Bowl--

West Virginia walks into one of the hottest teams in the country and gets to play Oklahoma, who just happens to be playing their best football of the year. Although anyone who followed the baseball season knows that a hot winning streak doesn't necessarily win championships, I'm still pegging Oklahoma for this one.

Final prediction: Oklahoma 38, West Virginia 27.

As if winning 1 national championship and being overly cocky about it for an entire year isnt happiness enough?

In the first few lines it states that the Buckeyes improved defense is a catalyst and that defense wins championships. Yes LSU is a nice story for the region just as the New Orleans Saints were for the NFL in 2006. That being stated, we still play the games and no team should have a free pass. I look forward to a great game that should, again, be won by the Bucks being led by their defense.

Nowhere in this story does it say WHY Ohio State should win the national title. I'd bet some pundits would disagree, considering LSU has an opportunity to bring some happiness to a region deserving of such.
