Bishop Rick Hawkins and Family Praise Center made a pledge at the beginning of 2007 to "Give to Make a Change" in the San Antonio community. With the end of the year approaching, their efforts continue with an outreach project geared toward assisting the homeless of San Antonio. On Saturday, December 1st, over one hundred of Family Praise Center volunteers met at the corner of South Flores and West Commerce, under a bridge in the downtown area of San Antonio, to clean up, feed and bring clothing to over 200 of San Antonio's homeless.

Bishop Rick Hawkins was quoted saying, "This is a season of giving, and we want to be sure to represent Christ in doing so. We are proud of the group that was able to make it out to help in this effort and it certainly made a difference."

Under the direction of Will Norris, Carl Cavenaugh, a local business owner, and Keith Phillips lead the way in setting up a buffet line, a clean up crew and a station where jackets and winter clothes could be handed out. "I am so happy that even though we may be going through a rough time, someone cares enough to lend a helping hand." said one of the locals who benefited from the drive.

Throughout the year, Bishop Rick Hawkins and Family Praise Center have attempted to reach out and benefit worthy causes in the San Antonio area and have succeeded. At the beginning of the year they gave $1000.00 to seven different community outreach programs that included the Salvation Army, The Pregnancy Care Center of San Antonio, The Strong Foundation, SAMMinistries, The Battered Women's Shelter of San Antonio, The San Antonio Children's Shelter and the Respite Care Center of San Antonio. They later held a benefit concert to raise $15,000.00 for the Pregnancy Care Center of San Antonio and then later donated $25,000.00 to the Habitat for Humanity cause in San Antonio.
