I have a lot of complaints about the entire political system, but the start of the problem is in campaigning. I'm not sure, but if I had to guess, the word campaign must be French for traveling the country lying and sucking up, while wasting a horde of money. This is an issue with all
types of political campaigning, especially when we are talking about the presidential race.
The thing that makes the least sense is the primary campaigning that is going on right now. Why is democrat Hillary Clinton attacking democrat Barrack Obama? They are both members of the same party, and the attacks are only because of the fact that Obama is currently in the lead. In reality, they are not competitors. The biggest problem with politicians is the fact that they will spend more time attacking their other people in the running, rather than sticking to what is important, how they are going to benefit our country. The most annoying part is that many times, the two most popular primary candidates will end up being partners running and President and Vice-President. So really, they are just hurting their own party and campaign by using their opponent's flaws to get ahead, and then turning around and team up with them.
All politicians claim their concern with the deficit, the poor, and other topics that require money. Yet, if all the money that is put into campaigning was invested in secure savings, we could eliminate the entire deficit. We could give every homeless person a home. Basically, we could do a lot more than air really bad political commercials and campaigning that is only really effective because of the dumbest citizens that are able to be persuaded by one simple speech given in their town.
Time is also a major issue. How much time does the average politician spend campaigning? It is usually about the last half of their term. Which means, when they should be working to perform the tasks they promised to take during the last election, they are spending it trying to convince you to re-elect them.
