A couple months ago, I was about to throw out old coupons in the mail, when I came across one for a restaurant I had never heard of before--the Brazilian Grill Steak House, located on the northwest-side of Indy. Intrigued, I read that they were an all-you-can-eat buffet for $27.50 a person, including a hot/cold salad bar. I couldn't wait to tell my husband! That night, we tried it out and were completely impressed.

Even though the place was smaller than most restaurants, it had a pleasant ambiance and prompt service. Reservations are the norm, however my husband and I were able to get in rather quickly, because we arrived before most of the dinner crowd.

After we were seated, the server explained the procedure. Each person gets a laminated two-sided red/green card that you keep out on the table to indicate "green" for the servers to come around with the meat selections for the night, or "red" to pass while you eat. At any time, you may approach the salad bar and choose from dishes such as red beans and rice, fried plantains, sausages and cabbage, fruit salad, fresh vegetables, potato salad, and more. Then you are given a basket of Brazilian cheese balls (which I declared as one of my new favorite foods).

Servers come to your table with meat speared on skewers, which they cut into small portions to whet your appetite, and you remove the meat from the skewer with tongs. There are between 10-15 meats a night, ranging from pork, fish, beef, lamb, and chicken--you could be looking at prime rib, flank steak, bacon-wrapped fish, seasoned lamb, and pork tenderloin. The great thing about it is that you can have your fill over a gradual amount of time, so that you don't leave feeling stuffed, just satisfied.

With drinks and also having a dessert (not included in the buffet price) we spent around $80. Not bad for the selection of food. We went there again recently, and took my parents. Again, we were pleased with the overall experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for couples and big groups alike.
