Recently I was sitting at my desk doing research for video game rental 123, and a co worker brought up the question "should her husband by a PS3 for their son whom got a grade of F in one of his classes?" So I ask you the question when is it ok to purchase a video game system? When do kids, grades, and video games compete for the attention of the gamer?
The Consoles
The games and consoles are costing more for single parents, or parents that make below the poverty line. When and what console do you buy for a kid getting all C's in class. The kid that doesn't take out the trash let alone clean the room you have been asking him to do for weeks. See in the past games were a privilege and now a lot of parents are using them to teach, baby sit, and entertain the youth while they consume themselves with themselves. Which system do you buy, is it the Cadillac of systems, say the PS3, or is it the journey man of the X box 360, or do you go for the kid friendly Wii. I believe that grades along with the kids maturity level will dictate which system he/ she gets. If you bring home Cadillac grades you get Cadillac games. If you bring home Yugo grades you get You go to your room and don't come out your room, but to use the bathroom and eat.
