There was an article that I had recently published that spoke about Apple' s iTunes plan to raise their price for downloading movies from the music store. The announcement was that the company was raising the price of the downloads to $15. A lot of consumers were going to be upset by this because Apple currently has a very slim selection of movies that are not worth the price. It has been explained that Apple made this move in hope of convincing other movie and network studios to offer their content via the iTunes music store. An announcement was made today that might of made that previous move a smart one at best.

Several insiders are claiming that the Fox Corporation and Apple are close to a deal that could land the iTunes music store a complete offering of Fox's full catalog. What this would mean for the users of iTunes is that they could benefit greatly. The Fox Corporation is a massive entity that produces thousands of popular shows on each of their channels. Anyone would be able to download popular shows such as Family Guy, The Simpsons, and 24 through the music store. This creates an opportunity for the Fox Corporation to capitalize on the growing demand of the consumer to have the ability to watch their favorite shows from portable devices and their home computers.

The negotiations between Fox Corporation and Apple have been going on for nearly a year. There has been a long reported standoff between the two. The demands of Apple for more control were not going to happen if they wanted content from the Fox Corporation. Reports are indicating that Apple decided to back off from their demands over the past couple of days. This allows Fox Corporation to have pricing flexibility when it concerns their newer movies. You have to understand that this is major news because Apple has refused to work with anyone when it comes to their pricing plan. This is more evident when it comes to the pricing on music. It appears that the company is going to be more lenient when it comes to movies.
