You can slip your portable MP3 player inside, fold the top down and go. Or add a rubber band to keep it closed. There are many variations on how you can use an old sock to protect your little iPod. Get out your old socks and see how easily you can make a cozy any of your electronic devices.
Hatphones
Your Savings: $54.95
If you are the sewing sort you can sew a pair of headphones into hat to make your own hatphones. Apple sells a hat called the Nike Sport Culture Hatphones. It's a pretty simple knitted hat that they say is for women, but this is pretty much a unisex style of hat.
Use a knitted hat of your own or buy a different hat. Sew in a pair of headphones. This is a great gift idea for the teen who won't wear a hat, or anyone who doesn't like to try to manage their headphones and their hat at the same time.
Apple Universal Dock
Your Savings: $29
If you just want a place for your iPod to rest, standing up, or to charge, you can easily make a cheap iPod dock yourself. Some ideas include using an existing Styrofoam block to cut out a hole for your beloved iPod. You could even modify the box it came in to make a cheap stand.
You could also construct an iPod dock from Legos or even Tinker Toys (if you can find any).
Or give up your GI Joe, Barbie or Power Ranger and turn one of those into your iPod dock.
