Have you ever watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? This very funny movie starring Chevy Chase is about a Christmas vacation gone wild. Now, all of the wildness of this Christmas vacation is not necessarily good. But who says you can't create your own wild and wacky Christmas? Create some excitement, fun and adventure this year. Your kids will thank you and it will be a Christmas they will never, ever forget. Here are a few ideas:

Have a Wacky Christmas Party/Theme, Like a:

Cowboy Christmas - Decorate the tree with western themed ornaments. Look around for unique decorations, i.e. a cowboy Santa. Instead of stockings, lay western boots around the fireplace. If you put fruit in them, of course you'll want to line them first, but they'll look really cool. Serve a western breakfast and dinner.

A 70's Christmas - That's right! Pull out the afro wigs, platform shoes, bell bottoms, and polyester. And what's the 70's without the groove? Play tunes from popular Christmas albums like - the Jackson Five Christmas Album or the Temptations Christmas Card Album.

Vegas Christmas - Make it a day full of games and entertainment. Set up several different tables for card games, as well as kiddie games. Have a contest for Elvis, Sammy Davis or Frank Sinatra impersonators. Vegas is known for lights, so be sure to have lots of glitz, glamour and sparkle around the room.

Crazy Hat/Crazy Sock Christmas - Decorate the tree with crazy hats and socks. Have everyone wear a crazy hat and a crazy pair of socks. Be sure to take lots and lots of photos.

Some other ideas include a Christmas chili-cook off, Star Wars Christmas, Murder Mystery or Beach Party Christmas.
