College is not cheap. In fact, it can be one of the most expensive endeavors that you under-take in your life (until applying for a mortgage), and it's not something that everyone can afford. When the costs are too great, and the scholarships just don't cover the costs, then we must look elsewhere to pay for college. This is where Financial Aid comes in as something that can make our lives much easier for the time being. The Government has set up many programs that make it easier for us to go to school, and it is because of these programs, that a lot of students have been able to attend College. It should first be stated that not everyone is accepted in the Financial Aid Program, and some of the time not all needs are met, but it is something that must be done if you don't have the financial capabilities to pay for college up-front.

What is Financial Aid

Financial Aid boils down to being what the Government can give you to monetarily assist you in paying for college. It can include loans which you must pay back, money which is just given to you, or money which you earn through doing specific things. Those loans can be either loans which you pay no interest on, ones that will start charging interest only after you finish school, or loans which start charging interest the minute you receive the funds. It all depends on what your qualifications for these loans ends up being, and whether or not you like the choices of selections which have been presented to you. Because these loans can be very extensive in amounts, it is very important to know which type of loan you are getting. Depending on the type of loan, there are also different types of stipulations on what you do with the money given to you. For example, some must go towards tuition, while others can be used for housing or even books should you want to. These Federal Programs are designed to help students, and provide a more intelligent work-force, in exchange for paying them back, and becoming a better person.
