Do you have a drawer full of makeup and most of it you seldom if ever wear because you have had it for forever?

Go through your makeup drawer and organize. Get rid of any makeup you have not worn in a year.

Now that you have gone through and organized and then went shopping for more because you had all this room for new items, what next?

Are you afraid that the same thing will happen again this time next year?

Not to worry, there are ways to ensure the life of your makeup.

Tips to having your makeup last longer- storage is our friend

No, I am not talking about that drawer where everything is tossed. I am referring to dry storage. If you the drawer you keep your makeup in is located in your bathroom- guess what moisture happens! Store all your makeup in an airtight container to seal out any moisture. Moisture can change the appearance and texture some makeup.

Tips to having your makeup last longer- pump it up

Any makeup or makeup's friend such as lotion, serums, and creams stay fresher in a pump. This is due to the fact that by being in a pump, the makeup is coming into less contact with air and oils from our fingertips. Go ahead, pump it up. Stock up on pumps form your local dollar store and switch your favorite night cream or lotion to a pump bottle.

Tips to having your makeup last longer- Ready, set, tone

Is your foundation becoming caked and dry? Pour a few drops of alcohol free toner in with your foundation bottle and shake. Your foundation will last longer and you are toning your face, even on days you forget to do so.

Tips to having your makeup last longer- Cool more than food

To guarantee that your nail polish will last longer, keep it in the refrigerator. This helps to stabilize the ingredients in the polish thereby the polish will last longer. Doing the same for lipsticks and face creams always ensures that they will last longer. I also do the same for my favorite perfumes. I know the whole first side shelf is for me not condiments of any kind.

Hi Lori, thanks for your comment on my blind cat story. Glad your cat was able to manage after all he went through. This is an excellent article on make-up. Last year when I went to Europe, I forgot my WHOLE make-up bad. That's like someone jumping from their plane without a parachute. I had to buy make-up from scratch--but I ended up liking my new make-up better than my first drawer full.
