Hamilton Beach 4 Quart Oval Slow Cooker Review

I find the Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker very useful for reheating the leftover food, meal, beef stew, soups and traditional meat preparation that need to be cooked in slow fire for long time. I got it for something around $20 from a sale and still wondering how efficient this cooker is. This is possibly the best slow cooker that you can find in this price range. You get for what you pay and in this case actually you end up getting more than what you shell out. To be honest I never expected this to last more than a year. I had been using it for more than 1.5 years and by far this seems functionally fine.

I bought a 4 quart sized slow cooker and this more than enough for small family and individual size. This looks cute and different with its oval shape. The other cookers that I have seen are round and the Hamilton Beach Oval Cooker is a cut above the rest. The oval design facilitates in accommodating more stuff and you can also introduce small bowls inside this. I have an aversion towards the chemical coated non stick films and this cooker does not have any. The plastic handle though seems delicate is cool to touch and you can transport the cooker even if it is hot.

Going by the insubstantial construction, I was skeptical about its efficiency. The only problem that I had so far is with the cheap plastic temperature control knob. As expected the plastic came out with in six months of use and now I operate the knob using metallic pliers. I wish it comes with light indicators and replace the dots so that I don't have to rely on my intuition for the precise cooking temperature. Though you can vary the temperature to three different settings, it does not have an automatic warm function and this lengthens the process.
