Having lived in various climates (including Florida for 10 years), and also being a heat stroke victin, I feel it appropriate to mention a variety of ways to help deal with the heat wave our country has been experiencing. The temperatures have been soaring across the country recently, obviously. We all know that taking a dip in a body of water sounds refreshing and helps. Local pools, watering spots, and lakes are packed with people thinking the same thing. What about the crowds, though? If you want to stay away from the crowds, here are some great ways of dealing with the heat wave:

Take it easy. Do not overexert yourself.  Be aware of how you feel.  Do not take things lightly.  The heat is a serious matter.

First, wear loose, light colored clothing. That is obvious, but needs mentioning.  Bring out those tropical shirts found at Jimmy Buffet concerts. Bring out those cotton exercise shorts. In fact, cotton is great in HOT weather. It lets your skin breathe. That is one great way to deal with the heat wave.

Secondly, there are some beverage rules to follow.  Have a continuous bottle or glass of water (preferably chilled) around. I say preferably since it is astounding how fast a large iced glass of water because warm.  Forget the lemonade, it will make you too thirsty. And, you will resort to chilled water anyways. Forget the alcohol, it will dehydrate you. So, you will turn to chilled water. Forget both the caffeine and carbonation, they will also dehydrate you.  See...there is a pattern here. Drink plenty of cold water. Drink plenty of water. Drink plenty of water.  Drink plenty of water.  Staying hydrated at all costs is an absolute necessary way of dealing with the heat wave.
