Lipodissolve and liposuction are two popular methods for reducing unwanted body fat. But while Lipodissolve works by delivering a series of small injections to problem areas, liposuction is surgery that requires a general anesthetic and significant recovery time. Before choosing between Lipodissolve and liposuction, learn about the specific risks and potential benefits of each technique.

Lipodissolve uses small injections of naturally occurring chemicals to dissolve fat present underneath the skin. Although some areas may require several Lipodissolve sessions to get the results you want, each session of Lipodissolve is typically completed in a single hour. The risk of infection and other side effects with Lipodissolve is low. The most common Lipodissolve side effect is some temporary swelling or tenderness in the area being treated.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that typically completes fat removal in a single session. Liposuction relies on a series of incisions to remove fat from under the skin. These incisions will cause some scarring, which should fade over time. The risk for serious complications with liposuction is greater than with Lipodissolve because the patient must be under general anesthesia during the liposuction procedure.

Lipodissolve and liposuction are both used to treat stubborn fat pockets, but liposuction can remove more fat than Lipodissolve. Lipodissolve is usually reserved for people with a normal body weight but wish to treat specific problem areas. Liposuction can be used for larger areas and larger amounts of fat; however, complications increase with the amount of fat being removed.

While excellent results can be achieved through both procedures, Lipodissolve is occasionally used to fix unevenness after liposuction. Sometimes after liposuction, pockets of fat or irregular contouring cause a rippling effect underneath the skin. Many people choose to use Lipodissolve to eliminate these fat deposits. Lipodissolve will create a smooth, natural look.
