10 Captured in Iraq in Connection with Terrorist Media Operations

According to Multi National Forces-Iraq, 10 individuals were captured during missions by Coalition forces to break up al Qaeda networks in northern and central Iraq.

One wanted suspect was detained in Baghdad by Coalition forces, and it is thought that he is connected with terrorist media networks in the area. It is also stated that the suspect has dealings with foreign terrorist organizers working in the area and weapons distributors that were captured by Coalition forces in a recent mission. Besides the capture of the suspect, Coalition forces found propaganda information at the scene that was written by terrorist networks.

Another wanted suspect was detained by Coalition force north of Baghdad while on a mission. The suspect is thought to be connected to weapons organizers as well as car bombings in Tikrit. It is stated that he is involved with al Qaeda in Iraq weapons organizers working in southern areas of Iraq.

An individual wanted in connection with al Qaeda in Iraq media networks was captured by military forces in al-Hadid during a mission to disrupt media operations. The suspect is thought to be involved with multiple al Qaeda in Iraq individuals that were captured during another recent mission by Coalition forces in Diyala Province.

Other missions occurred in Samarra and Mosul that led to the capture of seven more individuals believed to be terrorists involved in improvised explosive device attacks and connected to foreign terrorists.

"Our operations are steadily chipping away at the al-Qaeda in Iraq networks," said Major Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesman. "We will continue to pressure these terrorists who conduct brutal attacks on the Iraqi people until al-Qaeda cannot recover."

In other areas, Concerned Local Citizens gave information to military forces about a weapons storage area around Madyriah

Members of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division went out on a patrol to search the area based on the information that they received and to look for multiple weapons locations. They left on foot from Patrol Base W-1.
