Having my teeth whitened at a dentist has never been an option for me because of the high cost. So I've tried several over the counter tooth whitening products over the years and have not found one yet that lives up to the hype. I wrote a review on Crest Whitestrips here on AC. I haven't given up on my quest and am still on the search for the "holy grail" of tooth whitening, so here's my review on Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips.

I received samples to try, but a box of 56 whitening strips will cost you about $20 retail. Recommended usage is twice a day for 2 weeks and then as needed for maintenance. The strips are designed to be used on either upper or lower teeth, and have a notch cut out in them showing you how to place them on your teeth. If you want to use for the lower teeth, you position the notch in the top left; if you want to use for the upper teeth, you position the notch in the bottom right. The way the strips are cut is in a straight rectangle. So if you are one of those lucky people who have been blessed with straight teeth that are all the same height, then these strips would probably work wonderfully for you. For the rest of us who grind our teeth or for some other reason have teeth that aren't the same height, the strips are problematic ... at least they were for me. There seemed to be more strip on my gums than my teeth in some areas, and the whitening agents irritated my gums.

Takeaways
  • Try to get a free sample of these before you spend your money on these.
  • The strips are designed to be used on either upper or lower teeth, and have a notch cut out in them.
  • These strips are designed to be convenient and portable and you can use them anywhere and anytime.
Did You Know?
These strips have no backing to peel off and come out of the package dry.

I am trying to find the email address for listerine whitening. I bought them and used them as directed my teeth didn't get any whiter and it took the enamel off the side of one tooth and the silver is showing. Thank god it is in the back. Does anyone know who to contact them. Kathleen

I've tried various tooth whitening products and have never been really happy with them either. Thanks for an honest, well written review.

I tried Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Mouth Rinse, that one seems to do some whitening and maintain it, and you don't have to carry anything in your mouth.

Great review Nikki. I wanted to try them, but after reading your review I'm thinking otherwise.

Very good review! I have always wondered if they were strong enough to bleach the teeth, are they also strong enough to take off enamel? Always a bit of a deterrent for me. :) Hope you find the ones you're searching for! Let us know!

I got these samples too Nikki, they were horrible. If I didn't keep my teeth apart the stuck together and came off, so I had to try and push pieces around on my teeth, they did leave my teeth white, but, I had white chunks I had to get off my teeth, and from between my teeth. And you are right if you don't have absolutely straight across teeth, they definitely do not fit. I will use baking soda any day. My sister told me to dip my tooth brush in peroxide and then into baking soda. It also foams up and is salty, it does take away the peroxide taste. And it works and is cheaper than these other products. Hugs Mary PS. Thank you for all of your comments
