While Christmas brings joy and celebration for most people, it's also a time of great expense. People spend more money around the Christmas season that any other time of the year. Wouldn't you like to know some ways that you can be a more frugal shopper without spoiling the great fun that comes with the Christmas holiday? There are several different ways you can have a frugal Christmas. The first step is to think about the things that you typically spend money on at this time of year. Here are some average items that most people spend money on for Christmas:
- Gifts
- Stockings
- Holiday decorations
- Food
- Travel
Let's a take a moment to look at each of these things that people spend money on and consider how you can have a more frugal Christmas and save money this holiday season.
Gifts are the big thing for most people on Christmas. Almost everyone expects to give and get gifts. How can you save money on the presents that you want to get for special people on your shopping list this season? One way to do this is to start your shopping early. Shop for Christmas all throughout the year that way you can shop smart and find better deals and sales. Buying right at the holiday season almost always ensures you will spend more on whatever you get.
Another idea is to give hand-made and personal gifts instead of store bought gifts. This can save you a lot of money but it is also a great way to give a more personal, special gift that will be remembered for many years to come.
When it comes to stockings and stocking stuffers, a great way to save is to use the same stockings each year. Often you can find them for cheap at dollar stores or local discount stores and you can have everyone decorate their own to make them extra special. You can buy a ctocking for $1 and decorate it with simple items you probably already have around your home.
