Cooking is always a hassle, especially if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. And forget about making dessert. Why not just order out? Well, baking doesn't have to be as time-consuming or hard as it sounds. You can make a sensational dessert with none of the hassle and all of the glory. This apple pie recipe is both simple to make and hassle-free and will have your family singing your praises for days to come.

You don't need to make the dough, which is really the more time-consuming part of baking a pie. Instead, any pie crust package from your local grocery store will do the trick. You can find the rest of the ingredients right in your refrigerator or kitchen cabinet. All that's needed to make this delicious pie is a half hour of your time. A perfect treat will make a great addition especially during the holidays.

Ingredients

3 or 4 large Granny Smith apples
1 package of pie crust (usually comes packaged with two crusts)
1/2 cup of white sugar
1/4 cup of brown sugar
3 tablespoons of flour
4 or 5 pats of butter
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/8 cup of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoons of nutmeg
Lemon juice

Instructions

1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Peel, core, then cut apples into thin slices.

3. Mix in cinnamon until apples are thoroughly coated.

4. Add brown sugar, flour, salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice and mix with hands until well distributed.

5. Remove package from pie crusts and place apple filling into one crust. Add pats of butter on top of pie filling.

6. Remove crust from second tin pan and place it carefully on top of pie filling. You might also want to roll the crust out on floured board so it will fit on top of filling.

7. Use fork to create wedges on trim of crust. Make slits on top of crust.

8. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until crust turns brown and apple filling bubbles.

If you want a glossy sheen for your crust, use an egg white mixture to spread on top of crust. Pie crusts can burn easily, so keep a good watch on it. Use aluminum foil on the edges to prevent burning.

This pie serves 5 to 8. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
