Those who missed this year's television social experiment, CW TV's hit series, "Beauty and the Geek," probably don't know about the twist at the end. 2007 was the first year where the winning contestants were chosen by a vote of the public. While that in itself was an interesting twist, as it turned out, it was so much more. This year, there were eight male "geeks" and one female matched with eight female "beauties" and one male. It was the first time that the tables had been turned with a female geek and male beauty.
This twist didn't turn out to be a popular decision among the other contestants, who for some reason felt that it provided the different team with an unfair advantage. Perhaps, in the long run, they were right as Nicole and Sam won challenge after challenge.
Some of the teams got off to a rocky start. Geek David admitted that the beauty assigned to him - - Jasmine, a babysitter - - was his last choice for a partner. And the team of William and Jennifer seemed doomed almost from the beginning; locked in argument week after week.
To Nicole's chagrin, her "beauty" - - Sam - - was too busy romancing another beauty - - Rebecca - - to bother to study for the first few challenges. Plus, his callous make out sessions on the top bunk, while Nicole was forced to listen beneath, brought tears to his partner's eyes.
Geek Will made enemies with almost everyone in the house with his overbearing nature. His reading sessions further aggravated his house members who felt that he was just "a little too full of himself."
LARPer (Live Action Role Playing), David, worried some of his housemates with his preference of living within an imaginary world rather than embracing the real world.
Adorable geeks Joshua and Tony made the beauties want to protect them from all things bad as well as help them to progress throughout the competition. Several other geeks showed some real "hunk" potential after the yearly makeover session was completed.
