Sage 400: This is a little restaurant right in front of the Galleria, if you are tired of shopping and the food court this could be a good alternative. The atmosphere is mid-upscale and the food tastes really fresh. Some of their house specials are the "raw beef rolls" which is made with Angus beef wrapped with shrimp, and the triple delight which is salmon, tuna and yellow tail in a ponzu sauce. If you are a chocolate lover, the white chocolate martini is a must!
Their prices are a little high.
Rickshaw: This one is definitely a good one if you want to enjoy music as well. The prices are a little high (unless you go during lunch and their prices are very affordable), but the food is good. Go with their special rolls, they have one called the CCM roll, which is spicy salmon, green onion and wonton chips rolled inside-out and topped with an avocado puree which is very tasty.
The drinks to try are: Mochatini, Pineapple Upside down cake and Mango Wango. And definitely stay later to enjoy the music and dancing.
Backdoor Sushi: Backdoor Sushi is a little gem in the River Oaks area of Houston. It is right behind the movie theater, enjoy a foreign film and then head to Backdoor Sushi, it is a very small place, yet very cozy. Your best bet is to seat at the bar, since the 4 tables are most likely taken.
Kona Grill: This is the trendy place to be, with 2 locations, one in Sugarland and the other one in the Galleria; you do not want to miss it. They have 2 different times for happy hour so if you are not able to make it between 5-7 you can always go at 9 for what they call the reverse happy hour, their menu at that time is half off. Kona differs in the menu, that you do not have to stick to sushi, but you can order pizza or off the grill entrées.
