Today the United Stated Consumer Product Safety Commission and Starbucks reported the recall of Starbucks Coffee mugs. According to the CPSC this is a voluntary recall and these mugs pose a burn hazard. Apparently once the mug is filled with hot liquid, the plastic handle can fall off posing a "minor burn hazard to consumers".

There have been 23 reported incidents of the handles detaching with nine resulting in minor burns.

CPSC noted below:

Name of Product: Starbucks Fusion Coffee Mugs

Units: About 167,000

Importer: Starbucks Coffee Co., of Seattle, Wash.

Manufacturer: lab921, Seattle, Wash.

CPSC reports there are two styles of Starbucks 14-ounce Fusion coffee mugs affected by the recall. One style is white with a black plastic handle and a stainless steel base. They have the "Starbucks Coffee" logo printed on a black stamp or the original brown Starbucks logo stamp.

These sold for $11 between February 2007 and November 2007. Starbucks Coffee stamped mugs were sold nationwide while the mugs with the original brown Starbucks stamp were sold only at the Starbucks Pike Place store in Seattle, Washington store.

Customers should stop using these mugs immediately and contact Starbucks. The Starbucks company with give you instructions on returning the mugs for a full refund. Starbucks is offering a free beverage as incentive to return these recalled mugs.

These mugs were manufactured in China according the CPSC web site.

Old Navy Boy's Performance Fleece-lined Jackets Recalled

Another recall listed on the CPSC site may be of particular interest to parents, especially those that shop at Old Navy. If you do not already know, one of their boy's jackets has been recalled because the drawstring at the waist poses an "entrapment hazard"; according to Old Navy and CPCS.
