Two New Flavors of Hershey's Kisses: Cherry Cordial Creme and Mint Truffle

As the Hershey's Kiss celebrates its 100th anniversary, it's only right for a chocolate lover like myself to pay homage.

The many Hershey's Kisses varieties:

It's interesting to note how many varieties of Kisses there are. I'm sure that most people are familiar with the "classic" Kiss, a solid milk chocolate "drop". In addition to these, Hershey's now offers: Hugs (a milk chocolate Kiss "hugged" by white chocolate), Special Dark, Milk Chocolate with Almonds, "Pink" Kisses (with a portion of the proceeds going toward breast cancer research), Kisses Filled with Caramel, Dulce de Leche, Kisses Filled with Peanut Butter, Truffle Kisses, Mini Kiss Cookies, Mini Kiss Cookies with Confetti, Mini Kiss Cookies Double Chocolate, Kisses Filled with Cherry Cordial Creme, Limited Edition Coconut Cream, Candy Cane Mint, Limited Edition Mint Truffle, and the miniature Kissables.

That would be an awful lot of reviewing (not that I would mind the taste-testing!), but I'll stick to the two I recently bought. I bought two bags because they're usually priced at two bags for $5.00 in this area, and have recently been on special at 2/$4.00. I don't really need the extra enticement of a price reduction in order to buy chocolate but , since it was a special, I decided to go out on a limb this time and purchase two of their new varieties.

Hershey's Kisses Filled with Cherry Cordial Creme.

It's kind of like the bad news first, here: The Cherry Kisses are OK. They're milk chocolate Kisses that are filled with cherry "creme", or cream, as we say in these parts. The milk chocolate part is superb, as can be expected from Hershey's brand. The cherry creme is a pink sticky-ish too-thick goo that's on the sicky-sweet side. (Oh, what a vocabulary I have!) The creme tastes just like cherries, though. (Well, maybe more like cherries soaked in a million pounds of sugar.)
