I prefer body wash and body scrub over ordinary soap, but I've found it to be quite expensive - even the cheaper store brands. Instead of buying body scrub I've been experimenting with homemade body scrub, and I've found some wonderful formulas that greatly soften while exfoliating the skin. The following homemade body scrub formulas are perfect for gift-giving, and they're wonderful for pampering yourself or someone you love.

Moisturizing Sugar Scrub for Hands

My hands become exceptionally dry during the months of winter when the heat is on and moisture is lacking. I continually apply lotion, but when washing my hands several times a day it doesn't do a whole lot of good. My friend who also has problems with dry hands in the winter shared a bottle of homemade sugar scrub for hands, and I've been using this homemade remedy to help alleviate dryness.

Homemade moisturizing sugar scrub for hands requires ½ cup of your favorite moisturizing liquid hand soap and enough granulated sugar to absorb the liquid in the soap. The finished mixture will be as thick as paste. You'll also need a high-quality moisturizing hand cream, an absorbent towel, and warm water.

Begin by soaking your hands in the warm water. After you've soaked your hands for several minutes, use the homemade sugar scrub to gently exfoliate the skin of the hands and wrists. Rinse away the homemade scrub for hands with lukewarm water, and dry your skin thoroughly. Finish by applying a generous amount of hand cream, and massage it into your hands until it soaks in and disappears. Your hands will feel silky soft and extremely smooth.

Moisturizing Sugar Scrub for the Body

The aforementioned homemade scrub can also be formulated for use on the body. Simply replace the hand soap with moisturizing body wash. Use it to scrub your skin while paying careful attention to knees, elbows, and other dry areas. Your entire body will feel amazingly soft and smooth, and you'll feel invigorated by this fantastic homemade body scrub. Follow up by drying your body thoroughly with a soft absorbent towel, and apply your favorite moisturizing body lotion.

Great homemade product, you can get almond oil in any supermarket here C. Jeanne Heida or health food shop, and the Body shop also has it, if not a chemist should also have it in stock.
